"Coffeebeans Routes, through its tours and creative offerings, is creating ways to re-imagine our environments and re-position ourselves in them"
Coffeebeans Routes creates travel experiences around the stories of Cape Town. These are contemporary, urban, African experiences that provide deep insights, and plenty of fun.
We are interested in contemporary, urban Africa, and the incredible depth of opportunity they offer. We are ourselves contemporary and urban and African, and wish to create experiences that write new narratives of African life.
Through a dedicated service provider, we also specialise in music services to the travel, conference and eventing sectors.
We are recognised by the travel industry and international press as pioneers in creative tourism. Please check out features on us in Time Magazine, National Geographic, and the New York Times.
We are based in Cape Town Central, in a beautiful heritage building on Wale Street. Feel free to pop in for a freshly ground coffee and insight into the city.
Why are we called Coffeebeans Routes?
Everywhere in the world, across all languages and creeds and borders, everybody understands coffee. It is the universal communion.
The work that we do as Coffeebeans Routes is to facilitate communion across borders that are both real and imagined. To create the platforms that bring people together across boundaries, and in doing so, discover shared resources and opportunity. We create cultural interventions for economic growth.
Tourism is our key tool for unlocking economic potential through exploring our cultural diversity and legacy, and managing it by creating sustainable development.
In this video below, Coffeebeans Routes founder and Director Iain Harris talks about the origins of the business around Culture in the New Economy.

Cultural Strategies for Economic Growth In the new economy, our gold is not under the ground - it is on top. In the new economy, our gold is Human Capital. It is human skill, ideas, expression that can grow our economy.
In the trinity of Politics, Economics and Culture, Culture is the element that is most often left out. When times are tough, Culture is seen as the superflous cousin.
But Culture is the channel for identity. And identity, knowledge of self, and self-confidence, are the backbones of a thriving economy.
So Culture becomes an Economic imperitive. Our economy cannot grow if we do not empower ourselves to believe in ourselves. And if the only thing that I can change is myself, how do we create the space for somebody to realise their own capacity for change?
